Well our dear..........no, that's not gonna work. It seems that I've started too many blog posts with that word. Ahh. Found it. Here we go......
After four brief but love filled months, our cat Freddy, or Fredward, as yours truly nick-named him, (and also Fredfugglesworth. Don't ask, it just came out and stuck.) passed away this evening. Over the past week or so he lost about 3 pounds. As 9 pounds was a healthy weight for him, you can see he couldn't really afford to lose that much. He got very thin and bony. For those of you who know me, let me provide an illustration. I weigh 150 or thereabouts. Imagine if I lost a third of my body weight. Yeah, I'd be 100 pounds. And me being 6'1", it wouldn't be a pretty sight. (not that it was to begin with but you should get my point.) So my mom took him to the vet's office today and had his chest x-rayed. There was a lot of fluid around his heart and in his lungs. The vet didn't know if he had pancreatic cancer or not. But he wasn't doing well at all. So we had to make the tough decision to put him to sleep. It was very difficult for my mom because they were my aunt's cats. (the one who passed away unexpectedly back in Oct. Here is the link for that story. http://gavinlarum.blogspot.com/2010/10/live-your-life-with-no-regrets.html. And for pictures of the cats and their story http://gavinlarum.blogspot.com/2010/10/heidi-and-freddie.html.) Those cats were a tangible reminder of my aunt. So having the cats was kinda like having her around. Anyhow, he lived to be over 15 years old. He had a wonderful 4 months and so did we. We'll miss ya Fredward!

Aww, that's sad. Especially since he was, as you said, the tangible reminder of your aunt. He was a cute cat.
ReplyDelete(ok Gavin, typically meloncholy posts like this aren't supposed to be funny, lol, but you had me laughing/chuckling too many times for a post with a topic such as this. Goodness, haha. ;)Fredfugglesworth??? seriously, that's a name one can't easily forget! :P *laughs* )
Ah well, dear dead Fred, we shall miss ye! *takes off imaginary cap*
Oh I'm sorry Gavin. But a cat is a cat. (I'm not especially fond of them) ~Kelsey
